Changing KIA Sedona Flat Tire

Reduce your KIA Sedona speed gradually, keeping a straight line. Move cautiously off the road to a safe place well away from the traffic. Avoid stopping on the center divider of a highway. Park on a level spot with firm ground.
Stop the KIA Sedona engine and turn on your KIA Sedona emergency flashers.
Firmly set the KIA Sedona parking brake and put the transmission in “P”.
Have everyone get out of the KIA Sedona on the side away from traffic. And get far away from the roadway.
Read the following instructions thoroughly.
Do not continue driving with a deflated tire. Driving even a short distance can damage a KIA Sedona tire beyond repair.

KIA Sedona Compact spare tire
The KIA Sedona compact spare tire is designed for temporary emergency use only.
The compact spare tire is identified by the distinctive wheel design and color and special wording “TEMPORARY USE ONLY” molded into the side wall of the tire.
The standard tire should be repaired and replaced as soon as possible.
To keep the compact KIA Sedona spare tire noticeable, do not hide the wheel by a wheel cover or such. The KIA Sedona compact spare tire saves space in your luggage compartment, and its lighter weight helps to improve fuel economy and permits easier installation in case of a flat tire.
The KIA Sedona  compact spare tire can be used many times, if necessary. It has tread life of up to 4800 km (3000 miles) depending on road conditions and your driving habits. When tread wear indicators appear on the tire, replace the tire.
Your KIA Sedona ground clearance is reduced when the compact KIA Sedona spare tire is installed so avoid driving over obstacles and drive slowly on rough, unpaved roads and speed bumps. Also, do not attempt to go through an automatic car wash as the KIA Sedona  may get caught, resulting in damage.
1. Get the required tools and spare tire from your KIA Sedona.
KIA Sedona Jack
Jack handle
Wheel nut wrench
KIA Sedona Spare tire
To prepare yourself for an emergency, you should familiarize yourself with the use of the jack, each of the tools and their storage locations.

Turn the jack joint by hand.

To remove: Turn the joint in direction 1 until the jack is free. To store: Turn the joint in direction 2 until the jack is firmly secured to prevent it flying forward during a KIA Sedona collision or sudden braking.

To remove the KIA Sedona spare tire; Open the back door and you will find the spare tire clamp bolt near the back door latch. Loosen the spare tire clamp bolt by turning it counterclockwise with the wheel nut wrench. After the tire is lowered completely to the ground, remove the holding bracket.
Compact spare tire— When storing the spare tire, put it in place with the inner side of the wheel facing up.
Except compact spare tire— When storing the spare tire, put it in place with the outer side of the wheel facing up.
Then secure the KIA Sedona tire by repeating the above removal steps in reverse order to prevent it from flying forward during a collision or sudden braking.

Make sure to pull the tire straight up without catching on any other part.

Do not overtighten the bolt. Stop turning it when you begin to feel resistance on your hand.

After storing the KIA Sedona tire, make sure it is securely locked by pushing it forward and rearward.
—Blocking the wheel —Removing wheel ornament
2. Block the wheel diagonally opposite the flat tire to keep the vehicle from rolling when it is jacked up.
When blocking the wheel, place a wheel block from the front for the front wheels or from the rear for the rear wheels.
3. Remove the KIA Sedonas wheel ornament.
Pry off the wheel ornament, using the beveled end of the wheel nut wrench as shown.
Steel wheels
KIA Sedona Aluminium wheels
—Loosening wheel nuts —Positioning the jack —Raising your vehicle
4. Loosen all the wheel nuts.
Always loosen the KIA Sedona wheel nuts before raising the KIA Sedona .
The nuts turn counterclockwise to loosen. To get maximum leverage, fit the wrench to the nut so that the handle is on the right side, as shown above. Grab the wrench near the end of the handle and pull up on the handle. Be careful that the wrench does not slip off the nut.
Do not remove the nuts yet—just unscrew them about one-half turn.

5. Position the KIA Sedona jack at the correct jack point as shown.

Make sure the KIA Sedona jack is positioned on a level and solid place.

6. After making sure that no one is in the KIA Sedona, raise it high enough so that the spare tire can be installed.
Remember you will need more ground clearance when putting on the KIA Sedona spare tire than when removing the flat tire.

To raise the vehicle, insert the jack handle into the jack (it is a loose fit) and turn it clockwise. As the jack touches the vehicle and begins to lift, double-check that it is properly positioned.
Changing KIA Sedona wheels
7. Remove KIA Sedonas tires.
Roll the spare wheel into position and align the holes in the wheel with the bolts. Then lift up the wheel and get at least the top bolt started through its hole. Wiggle the tire and press it back over the other bolts.
Before putting on wheels, remove any corrosion on the mounting surfaces with a wire brush or such. Installation of wheels without good metal-to-metal contact at the mounting surface can cause wheel nuts to loosen and eventually cause a wheel to come off while driving. Therefore after the first 1600 km (1000 miles), check to see that the wheel nuts are tight.
—Reinstalling KIA Sedona wheel nuts —Lowering your KIA Sedona
8. Reinstall all the KIA Sedona wheel nuts finger tight.
Reinstall the wheel nuts (tapered end inward) and tighten them as much as you can by hand. Press back on the tire and see if you can tighten them more.
9. Lower the KIA Sedona  completely and tighten the wheel nuts.
Turn the jack handle counterclockwise to lower the vehicle.
Use only the wheel nut wrench to tighten the nuts. Do not use other tools or any additional leverage other than your hands, such as a hammer, pipe or your foot. Make sure the wrench is securely engaged over the nut.
Tighten each nut a little at a time in the order shown. Repeat the process until all the nuts are tight.

10. Reinstall the KIA Sedona wheel ornament.
1. Put the wheel ornament into position.
Steel wheel models, align the cutout of the wheel ornament with the valve stem as shown.
2. Then tap it firmly with the side or heel of your hand to snap it into place.
11. Check the KIA Sedona air pressure of the replaced tire.
Do not forget to reinstall the tire inflation valve cap as dirt and moisture could get into the valve core and possibly cause air leakage. If the cap is missing, have a new one put on as soon as possible.
12. Restow all the tools, KIA Sedona jack and flat tire securely.
As soon after changing wheels as possible, tighten the wheel nuts
KIA Sedonas with a spare tire of the same size as the installed tires
13. Push the KIA Sedona tire pressure warning system reset switch.

Traveling with Pets in my KIA Sedona

My dog or cat riding in my KIA Sedona
Transporting Pets

,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Airbags deploying in the front seat could harm your pet. An unrestrained pet will be thrown about and possibly injured, or injure a passenger during panic braking or in a collision.
Transporting KIA Sedona Pets.
It is extremely dangerous to ride in a cargo area, inside or outside of a KIA Sedona. In a collision, dogs or cats
riding in these areas are more likely to be seriously injured or killed. Do not allow pets to ride in any area of your
KIA Sedona that is not equipped with seats and seat belts. Be sure everyone in your KIA Sedona is in a seat and
using a seat belt properly.
Lock Your KIA Sedona, never leave your pet in your KIA Sedona unattended. before traveling with your dog or cat Always remove the key from the ignition and lock all doors when leaving the KIA Sedona unattended, even in your own driveway or garage. Try to park your KIA Sedona in a
well-lit area and never invite theft by leaving articles of value exposed. Exhaust Gas Whenever a change is noticed in the sound of the exhaust
system, when exhaust fumes can be detected inside the KIA Sedona, or when the underside or rear of the KIA Sedona is
damaged, have a competent mechanic inspect the complete KIA Sedona exhaust system and adjacent body areas for broken,
damaged, deteriorated, or mispositioned parts. Open seams or loose connections could permit exhaust fumes
to seep into the passenger compartment. In addition, inspect the exhaust system each time the KIA Sedona is raised
for lubrication or oil change. Replace as required. If you are required to drive with the trunk open, make sure that all windows are closed and the
climate control BLOWER switch is set at high speed. DO NOT use the recirculation mode. Do not run the engine in a closed garage or in confined
areas any longer than needed to move your KIA Sedona in or out of the area when traveling with your dog or cat.
If it is necessary to sit in a parked KIA Sedona with the engine running, adjust your heating or cooling controls to force outside air into the KIA Sedona. Set the blower at high speed. The best protection against carbon monoxide entry into the KIA Sedona body is a properly maintained engine exhaust system.
Safety Checks You Should Make Inside The KIA Sedona before traveling with your dog or cat.
 dog or cat.Seat Belts
Inspect the belt system before traveling with your dog or cat, checking for cuts, frays, and loose parts. Damaged parts must be replaced
immediately. Do not disassemble or modify the system. Front seat belt assemblies must be replaced after a collision.

KIA Sedona Rear seat belt assemblies must be replaced after a collision if they have been damaged (bent retractor, torn
webbing, etc. If there is any question regarding belt or retractor condition, replace the belt.
Airbag Warning Light
The light should come on and remain on for six to eight seconds as a bulb check when the ignition switch is first turned ON. If the light is not lit during starting, see your authorized KIA Sedona dealer. If the light stays on, flickers, or comes on while driving, have the system checked by an authorized KIA Sedona dealer.
Periodic Safety Checks You Should Make Outside The KIA Sedona before traveling with your dog or cat.
KIA Sedona Tires
Examine  tires for excessive tread wear and uneven wear patterns. Check for stones, nails, glass, or other objects
lodged in the tread. Inspect the tread and sidewall for cuts and cracks. Check the wheel nuts for tightness.
Check the tires (including spare) for proper pressure. KIA Sedona Lights
Have someone observe the operation of exterior lights
while you work the controls. Check turn signal and high beam indicator lights on the instrument panel.
KIA Sedona Door Latches, before traveling with your dog or cat Check for positive closing, latching, and locking.
KIA Sedona Fluid Leaks
Check area under KIA Sedona after overnight parking for fuel, engine coolant, oil, or other fluid leaks. Also, if gasoline fumes are detected or if fuel, power steering fluid, or brake fluid leaks are suspected, the cause should be located and corrected  before traveling with your dog or cat.

I am Very pleased with my KIA Sedona roof rack universal crossbars.

The KIA Sedona crossbars should be placed in the proper load carrying positions  prior to placing items onto KIA Sedona roof rack. Recommended 165 pounds maximum weight that can be loaded onto the KIA Sedona roof rack. Distribute the load as evenly as possible across the KIA Sedona crossbars and KIA Sedona roof rack and secure the load firmly.

If the KIA Sedona is equipped with a sunroof, be sure not to position cargo onto the KIA Sedona roof rack in such a way that it could interfere with KIA Sedona sunroof operation.

Always drive slowly and turn corners carefully when carrying items on the KIA Sedona roof rack. Severe wind updrafts, caused by passing vehicles or natural causes, can cause sudden upward pressure on items loaded on the KIA Sedona roof rack. This is especially true when carrying large, flat items such as wood panels or mattresses. This could cause the items to fall off the KIA Sedona roof rack and cause damage to your KIA Sedona or those around you. To prevent damage or loss of the KIA Sedona cargo while driving the KIA Sedona , check frequently before or while driving to make sure the items on the KIA Sedona roof rack are securely fastened.
